Royals claim catcher Adam Moore on outright waivers from Seattle

Moore Optioned to Triple-A Omaha

The Kansas City Royals today claimed catcher Adam Moore on Outright Waivers from the Seattle Mariners and optioned him to Triple-A Omaha.  With the addition of Moore, the Royals’ 40-man roster stands at 39.

Moore, 28, has played with Triple-A Tacoma in 2012, hitting .209 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 24 games.  The six-foot-three, 220-pound right-handed hitter has appeared in 68 games in the Majors for the Mariners from 2009-11, batting .197 with five home runs and 17 RBI.  He appeared in just two games in 2011 after tearing the medial meniscus in his right knee on April 7.  Born and raised in Texas, Moore was a redshirt on the University of Nebraska baseball team in 2005 with current Royals outfielder Alex Gordon.  He was selected by the Mariners in the sixth round in 2006 out of Northeast Texas Community College and named the Seattle affiliate Player of the Year at each of his minor league stops in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
