Manager-Communications & Broadcasting
Nick Kappel is in his fifth season with the Royals, and first serving as the Manager-Communications & Broadcasting. In his role, Kappel assists with game notes, press releases, Royals publications and MLB broadcasting correspondence. Following the 2016 season, he helped launch the Royal Rundown blog, serving as the primary editor, while in 2017 he was a contributing editor/writer for the book, Kansas City Royals 50 Years: A Golden History.
Kappel was a Communications Intern with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2015, and filled a similar role with the Miami Marlins during the 2014 season. Prior to his time with the Marlins, he served as a press box assistant with the Jupiter Hammerheads in the Florida State League, held an internship with Perfect Game USA and served as a minor league stringer for Baseball Info Solutions.
He graduated from the University of Iowa in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. He also attended Iowa State University and spent a semester at Kirkwood Community College in Iowa City. A native of Waterloo, Iowa, Kappel resides in Kansas City, Mo., with his fiancé, Caitlin.
