Salute to the Negro Leagues

Join the Royals in honoring the Negro Leagues on Sunday, May 6th and raise funds for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum! Royals players will wear throwback Kansas City Monarchs uniforms, and Detroit will wear Stars uniforms. Following the game, the game-worn, autographed jerseys will be auctioned with proceeds benefiting the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Several Negro League alumni will be doing a free autograph signing for fans in the Royals Hall of Fame from Noon -1 p.m.

The first 10,000 fans will receive a Kansas City Monarchs Vintage Hat courtesy of Pepsi. In addition, everyone from fans to the grounds crew, KCrew and Sluggerrr will be "Dressed to the Nines" in tribute to the tradition of attending Negro Leagues game dressed in your Sunday best.

Online and In-Game Auctions

During the game, there will be silent auctions taking place at the Royals Authentics store for game-worn, autographed hats. Beginning Sunday, May 6th at 9:00 a.m. CST the game-worn, autographed jerseys will be auctioned online. Proceeds from all auctions will benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. A second set of jerseys from additional players will be available for auction beginning on May 11th.
