Salvador Perez made his Kansas City Royals debut in 2011 at age 21. He hit his first career home run on August 29, 2011, against the Detroit Tigers off of Max Scherzer at Comerica Park. In a charming bit of irony, Salvy’s record-breaking 318th home run came against the Detroit Tigers in… you guessed it, Comerica Park!
The Royals Captain is now the third active player to own his current team’s all-time home run record. He also ranks seventh in career home runs among catchers Major League history. The franchise home run record is another feather in decorated ballcap of one of the best catchers in baseball and one of the greatest Royals of all time. Congratulations, Salvy!
