The Tigers were without Wenceel Pérez for Wednesday's finale against the Astros, a 4-2 Detroit loss, after the outfielder was injured during a freak postgame accident on Tuesday night.
Manager A.J. Hinch said Pérez was working with a therapy band while going through his normal arm-care routine when the band snapped off the hook where it was connected and hit him just below the left eye.
"We have a battery of tests to check out his face, his eye," Hinch said. "We’re pretty concerned about it.”
The accident compounds the Tigers’ injury woes as they head into a 10-game homestand against the White Sox, Yankees and Astros. Second baseman Gleyber Torres went back on the injured list with a left oblique strain,
