Veteran Michigan sports announcer Dan Dickerson returns for his 21st season in the booth and his 18th season as the lead play-by-play voice of the Tigers. Dan made his Tigers debut in 2000, working alongside Hall of Fame broadcaster, Ernie Harwell.
⢠Dickerson does play-by-play for BallyāSports Detroit in the offseason, covering the MHSAA High School Football Championships and Big Ten Hockey.
⢠Dan also teaches a short course on play-by-play at Michigan State University each winter. Danās wife, Lori Anne, is a Journalism Professor at MSU.
⢠Dan is co-host, along with Pat Caputo, of āTiger Talk,ā a weekly offseason talk show on WXYT that focuses on Tigers news and baseball hot stove topics.
⢠Dickerson previously worked five years with former Tigers flagship radio station WJR, where he did a little bit of everything: play-by-play for University of Michigan football and basketball, sideline reporter for UM football, sports reporter, and co-host of āSportswrap,ā with the talented Steve Courtney.
⢠Spent six-and-a-half years with Detroitās WWJ-AM from 1988-95, hosting a post-game call-in show following Detroit Lions broadcasts and serving as a sideline reporter for University of Michigan football...also anchored WWJās news and sports on the weekends and served as a general assignment news reporter.
⢠Dan began his sports broadcasting career at WCUZ Radio in Grand Rapids, MI, working at the station from 1982-88 in both news and sports.
⢠Started in radio in 1980 with WMAX radio in Grand Rapids, covering general assignment news and anchoring afternoon newscasts.
⢠Named the 2016 Ernie Harwell Lifetime Achievement Award winner by Detroit Sports Media.
⢠Won the 2008 Ty Tyson Excellence in Sports Broadcasting Award, named after the Tigers pioneer broadcaster, Ty Tyson, and is awarded annually by Detroit Sports Media.
⢠Named Michigan Sportscaster of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2014 by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
⢠Earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1980.
⢠Resides in Clarkston, MI with wife, Lori, and children, Rachel and Justin.
