CHICAGO – Prior to this season, Drew Thorpe had never pitched a game at the Triple-A level.
But his performance Tuesday night, during Triple-A Charlotte’s 4-1 victory over Buffalo, marked his fifth start for the Knights along the injury rehab trail. Here’s a look at the results for Thorpe, who underwent Tommy John surgery in Spring Training ‘25.
How did he perform?
Tuesday’s effort was one of the best for Thorpe, who pitched five scoreless innings. He struck out four, walked one, and yielded one hit over 68 pitches, of which 42 went for strikes. Home runs from Tim Elko and Junior Perez supported Thorpe’s victorious effort.
What’s next?
Thorpe has covered 36 2/3 innings over nine injury rehab starts in total across the White Sox Minor Leagues. He could continue with the Knights for one or two more trips to the mound before the close of the International League schedule, but he could also line up to pitch Sunday in St. Louis if the White Sox wanted to give their starters an extra day.
What else?
Right-hander Huascar Brazobán, who is on the injured list with a left lat strain, rejoined the team Tuesday as part of the taxi squad.
“Yeah, he's in a spot where we feel comfortable activating him,” White Sox manager Will Venable said. “He's coming along. In case there's a need over the next couple of days, he'll be close by."
