CHICAGO -- Tristan Peters left Friday’s game against the Tigers in the top of the fifth inning after injuring himself while trying to haul in Kevin McGonigle’s bases-clearing triple. The White Sox announced Peters has a left shoulder/rib contusion.
Peters gave chase but couldn’t get to the ball, running full force into one of the support posts on the right-center-field fence, with his left shoulder making direct contact. Peters laid down on the warning track for a minute or two before leaving with head athletic trainer James Kruk out of the center-field gate.
It has been a breakout 2026 season for the rookie outfielder, hitting for the cycle, being named an All-Star and homering in five straight games to tie a franchise record. He was replaced by Braden Montgomery after the injury.
