ANAHEIM -- Angels closer Huston Street has been slowed in his rehab from right knee inflammation and will be sent for further evaluation and tests, manager Mike Scioscia said on Tuesday.
Street was eligible to be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday. He's started a throwing program, but Scioscia said the right-hander "is being evaluated."
"I think he's going to have some further tests," Scioscia said. "He's been throwing and making progress, but they certainly want to do some other tests on him just to make sure that he's progressing in the right direction."
Street, 33, had a cortisone injection on Aug. 2. He's been limited to 26 appearances this season and has posted a 6.45 ERA, a 1.93 WHIP and a 1.17 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He hasn't appeared in a game since July 31.
Another injured Angels reliever, Cam Bedrosian, has yet to resume throwing after landing on the disabled list Aug. 9 (retroactive to Aug. 4) with right middle finger flexor tendinitis. He's eligible to come off the DL on Friday, though the Angels do not have a timetable for his return.
"Cam is feeling better," Scioscia said. "Hopefully he's making progress and will start picking up a ball here shortly. We'll obviously wait for direction from our medical staff as to when that might happen."
The Angels had a more positive update on first baseman C.J. Cron (left hand fracture), who began a Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Cron went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI for Salt Lake on Monday.
"C.J., he needs some more at-bats under his belt," Scioscia said. "Certainly looking to see how he rebounds from the workload he's given. He's definitely moving closer, had a good night last night."
Worth Noting
• The Angels scratched shortstop Andrelton Simmons and catcher Geovany Soto from the lineup roughly 90 minutes before Tuesday's game against the Mariners. Cliff Pennington started at short and Jett Bandy started behind the plate. The team announced that Simmons had a personal matter. Soto was scratched with right knee inflammation. He's been on the disabled list twice this season with issues in both knees.
Simmons entered the game as a defensive replacement at shortstop in the seventh inning, with Pennington shifting to second base.
Scioscia said Soto could have played in an emergency situation, though it's worth noting catcher Carlos Perez was scratched from the lineup for Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.
Simmons was hit by a pitch from Félix Hernández in the third innings of Monday's game, though he stayed in for all nine innings. Soto was removed from Sunday's game against the Indians after six innings, when he was struck on the left thumb by Francisco Lindor's backswing. Soto did not play Monday.
