ANAHEIM -- Angels left fielder Daniel Nava suffered a laceration, essentially a deep cut, in his left index finger on Friday night, prompting an early exit. X-rays on Nava's finger were negative and the team listed him day-to-day.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia does not expect Nava to land on the disabled list and hopes he can be available to come off the bench on Saturday. The Rangers are starting back-to-back lefties, Cole Hamels and Martin Perez, so Nava won't be needed in the starting lineup.
"He had a nasty cut on his finger," Scioscia said. "It might affect his throwing, but we'll see if he can swing a bat tomorrow."
Nava was initially stepped on by Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor on a pickoff play in the third inning, then started bleeding upon sliding safely into third base, prompting attention from the Angels' medical staff.
Nava stayed in the game and scored, but was taken out the next half inning, with Ji-Man Choi moving from first base to left field and C.J. Cron checking in at first base.
