Reddick still red hot, hits in 5 straight ABs

April 4th, 2018

HOUSTON -- Was it only two days ago Astros outfielder took to Twitter to beg for his first hit of the season?
Reddick, who started the season hitless in his first eight at-bats, logged hits in five consecutive plate appearances, starting with consecutive homers late in Tuesday's win over the Orioles and continuing with singles in his first three at-bats in a 3-2 win over Baltimore on Wednesday afternoon before an eighth-inning strikeout ended the run.
After going 0-for-7 in the season-opening series against the Rangers in Arlington, Reddick went 6-for-10 in the Orioles series with six RBIs.
"He's been good," Astros manager AJ Hinch said. "He ignited us. ... On a day when we weren't putting a lot of hits out there, he led off a couple of innings with some hits. He can handle right-handed pitching really well with his at-bat quality. It's nice to have someone in the order to pick us up on the day we needed it."
Reddick hit his first homer of the season in the sixth inning Tuesday before clubbing a grand slam an inning later that proved the difference in a 10-6 win. He stayed hot on Wednesday by singling and scoring in the second inning, and his hits in the fourth and sixth helped him raise his average to .353.

After Cardinals outfielder tweeted Monday "I will get a hit" repeatedly before snapping an 0-for-13 to start the season, Reddick was one of the players to follow suit. He also recorded his first hit of the season on Monday.
