Sore ankle takes Reddick out early vs. Mariners

HOUSTON -- Astros right fielder Josh Reddick is listed as day to day after leaving Monday's 4-1 loss to the Mariners in the fourth inning. Manager AJ Hinch said Reddick was complaining about a sore right Achilles tendon, which meant the Astros weren't going to take any chances.

Reddick, who was hitting ninth against the Mariners, flied out to center field in his only at-bat in the second inning and told Hinch he felt something when he was rounding first. In the fourth, he had to charge a ball that second baseman Jose Altuve stopped, which aggravated the injury.

"They alerted the medical staff and they let me know and we pulled him and he's getting evaluated, so he's day to day," Hinch said.

Reddick, who is hitting .240 with 15 homers and 44 RBIs this season, was replaced in right field by George Springer, who moved over from center. Jake Marisnick took over in center and made a pair of terrific diving catches in the eighth inning.
