Kinley Rasmus' legend only grows.
Although it was the familiar family name -- Rasmus is Cory's daughter and Colby's niece -- that initially drew attention, the 12-year-old continues to prove her talent speaks for itself. Now, as the 2026 Little League World Series nears its final stages, she's blazing new trails.
On Tuesday, the two-way player out of Phenix City, Ala., set a new girls' record for tournament hits, with five (and counting) as her team pulled out a 4-2 victory over Soundview Little League (Tacoma, Wash.) to advance.
The day before, Rasmus tied Mo'ne Davis' 2014 record for the most strikeouts by a girl in Little League World Series history (14). Davis and Rasmus are among just nine girls ever to pitch in the Little League World Series.
In all, 26 girls have played in the tournament since its first entry in 1947; the 2026 edition is just the fourth in which two girls have played, with Rasmus joined by Carsynn Meyer (Paseo Verde Little League, Henderson, Nev.), a potential opponent in future rounds should Phenix City continue its thrilling run.
