The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms with OF George Springer on a six-year contract (US $150,000,000).
Springer, 31, batted .265 and recorded six doubles, two triples, and 14 home runs en route to an .899 OPS with the Astros last season. The three-time All-Star was selected 11th overall by Houston in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft and had played all 795 of his career games for the club. The 2017 World Series MVP has a career line of .270/.361/.491 and has amassed 324 extra-base hits while winning two Silver Slugger awards. The University of Connecticut product has tallied 174 home runs, tied for fifth most by an outfielder since he broke into the Majors in 2014, and his 39 lead-off homers are the most among all batters over that span.
