NEW YORK -- With the postseason starting next week, Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson may be dealing with a left wrist ailment similar to the one that sidelined him for two weeks in May.
Swanson exited Tuesday night's 7-3 win over the Mets after he lined out to center field in the second inning against Noah Syndergaard. He returned to Atlanta on Wednesday to be evaluated by Braves head team physician Dr. Gary Lourie. The Braves will provide an update before Wednesday night's game.
"It was enough to come out [of the game], so that is a concern," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "So it is a concern."
If Swanson is sidelined for an extended stretch, the Braves will turn to Charlie Culberson, who went 5-for-11 with two doubles and a triple while filling in for injured Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager during last year's National League Championship Series.

There's a chance the Braves could move third baseman Johan Camargo to shortstop and have Culberson play third base.
Either way the Braves may be weakened defensively. Swanson entered Tuesday ranked sixth among all MLB shortstops with 10 Defensive Runs Saved. Camargo ranked second among third baseman with 6 DRS.  
When Swanson was sidelined from May 3-18 this season, he needed time to strengthen what was diagnosed as left wrist inflammation. The Braves did not say he is currently dealing with the same issue. But if he is, there is reason to be concerned about his availability for the NL Division Series, which starts next Thursday.
Swanson showed some promise when he hit .327 (16-for-49) with four homers during a 14-game stretch from Aug. 17-Sept. 2. But he has hit just .161 with a .526 OPS over the 19 games that have followed.
Culberson has delivered a number of big hits for the Braves this year, and he proved to be a capable backup when he played left field as Ronald Acuna Jr. missed a month.
