Streak ends: D-backs PPD Sat., play DH Sun.

April 24th, 2021

The D-backs had their game against the Braves at Truist Park on Saturday night postponed due to rain, and befitting a team that plays its home games in a stadium with a retractable roof, it's been quite a while since that has happened.

The D-backs and Braves will play a traditional doubleheader Sunday with two seven-inning games beginning at 10:20 a.m. MST. There will be 45 minutes between games.

The last time the D-backs had a weather postponement was May 4-5, 2015, when they had back-to-back games at Coors Field against the Rockies postponed.

The 866 games between weather postponements is the longest stretch in the Majors since 1990 according to STATS LLC. The next closest streak was the Astros, who went from May 3, 2011 until Oct. 4, 2015 without a weather postponement.

The D-backs did have one game postponed last year, Aug. 27 against the Rockies, due to support of social justice and equality.

Zac Gallen, who was scheduled to pitch Sunday will start Game 1, while Saturday's scheduled starter, Madison Bumgarner, will get the ball in Game 2.
