PHOENIX -- Defense is something the Diamondbacks have always prided themselves on under manager Torey Lovullo, and once again, they have the Gold Gloves to show for it.
Three Diamondbacks players were awarded National League Rawlings Gold Glove Awards on Sunday: catcher Gabriel Moreno, right fielder Corbin Carroll and shortstop Geraldo Perdomo.
It marked the second time in franchise history that Arizona had three Gold Glove winners, joining 2019, when pitcher Zack Greinke, shortstop Nick Ahmed and left fielder David Peralta each won the award.
This is Moreno's second Gold Glove -- he also won the award in 2023 following Arizona's run to the World Series.
Moreno led NL catchers and was second in MLB to Detroit's Dillon Dingler with 14 defensive runs saved, while leading all catchers with 2 defensive bWAR.
Moreno is just the second catcher in MLB history to win the batting title and a Gold Glove Award in the same season. Twins backstop and Hall of Famer Joe Mauer also did so in 2008 and '09.
Carroll, who also won the Gold Glove for right fielders last year, led MLB right fielders in outs above average (+10) and putouts (351), while tying fellow finalist Seiya Suzuki of the Cubs for the fewest fielding/non-throwing errors among MLB right fielders, with one apiece.
This is Perdomo's first Gold Glove, after he led all NL shortstops with 362 assists. Only Baltimore's Gunnar Henderson had more (367).
Perdomo tied for fourth among MLB shortstops with 16 OAA, and he was second to the Cardinals' Masyn Winn among NL shortstops with eight DRS.
