PHOENIX -- Welcome to the big leagues, Jose Fernandez.
In his Major League debut, Fernandez delivered a pair of homers, including what proved to be the game-winner in the eighth inning as the Diamondbacks rallied for a 7-5 win over the Tigers.
Arizona trailed 5-1 heading into the eighth, with the lone run coming on Fernandez's fourth-inning homer.
In the eighth, though, the Diamondbacks’ bats came alive as James McCann opened the frame with a double. Corbin Carroll would drive home two runs with a double, and Gabriel Moreno drove in one with a fielder's choice.
With two outs, Detroit manager A.J. Hinch brought in his closer, Kenley Jensen, to face Fernandez, who hit a 1-1 cutter into the seats in left-center to give Arizona a 7-5 lead.
Paul Sewald closed things out for the Diamondbacks in the ninth.
