Arizona Diamondbacks return to Chase Field taking on division rival San Diego Padres and the Kansas City Royals, here's what to look forward to

April 17th, 2023

The Arizona Diamondbacks, coming off a six-game road trip, will kick off their second homestand on Thursday, April 20, when they take on the San Diego Padres for a four-game series and the Kansas City Royals for three games.

Some homestand highlights include:

Friday, April 21, is the second Free Postgame Fireworks night of the season, presented by Arizona’s Family.

Saturday’s game on April 22 will feature the first bobblehead of the season - the Zac Gallen Scoreless Streak Bobblehead for the first 15,000 fans, courtesy of Chase:

  • The bobblehead celebrates Gallen’s consecutive scoreless inning record of 44.1 in 2022, making D-backs history and breaking Brandon Webb’s previous record of 42.0 scoreless innings.
  • Gallen’s streak is the eighth longest in the live ball era (since 1920).
  • He’s the fourth pitcher in the modern era to throw six or more scoreless innings in six straight starts, joining Don Drysdale (1968); Orel Hershiser (1988); and Zack Greinke (2015).
  • Gallen was named NL Player of the Week on Monday, April 17.

The next time fans will be able to see the Padres play at Chase Field will be in August.

Next week, the D-backs take on the Kansas City Royals April 24-26 in a three-game series. This homestand will give fans the chance to try one of the seven new VS. Dogs Chef Tilder has developed - the KC Dog – a 1/3 lb., footlong, 100% beef dog with pulled pork, barbecue sauce and crispy fried onion. The fan favorite VS. dogs can be found at Big Dawgs at Section 105. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to try out the new D-backs BBQ Alley at Section 114, offering traditional-style BBQ and meatless options.

Additional Family Fun weekend plans include Día del Niño on Sunday, April 23, highlighting:

  • Kids Run the Bases postgame
  • “Baxter, Zac and the Half-Moon Attack,” a STEM book supported by Honeywell (first 5,000 kids)
  • Kids Face Painters & Coloring Station
