Jared Porter - Senior Vice President & Assistant General Manager

Jared Porter enters his fourth season as Senior Vice President & Assistant General Manager of the D-backs. In his role, Porter assists GM Mike Hazen on all facets of the organization.

Porter joined the D-backs following parts of two seasons with the Chicago Cubs where he served as the club’s Director of Professional Scouting/Special Assistant during the team’s first world championship in 107 seasons. The title marked the fourth in Porter’s first 13 seasons in the Major Leagues, including three with the Boston Red Sox (2004, ‘07 and ‘13).

A native of Wayzata, Minn., Porter worked with the Red Sox from 2004-15 and was most recently the club’s Director of Professional Scouting from 2012-15. Prior to taking on that title, Porter served as the Assistant Director of Professional Scouting from 2010-11, Coordinator of Professional Scouting in 2008-09, Player Development Assistant from 2006-07 and an intern in 2004-05, first at the club’s Spring Training facility in Fort Myers, Fla., in 2004 then in Boston in 2005. He also gained experience in the Cape Cod League in 2002-03 as an intern for the Brewster Whitecaps.

Porter was raised in Duxbury, Mass., attending high school at Thayer Academy (Braintree, Mass.) and then graduated from Bowdoin College (Brunswick, Maine) in 2003 with a degree in history. He played baseball and hockey for the Polar Bears, and was the captain of both teams his senior season.
