Astros lose replay challenge in third inning vs. Twins

HOUSTON -- Astros manager Bo Porter unsuccessfully challenged a call at first base during the third inning of Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Jose Altuve lined a ball down the third-base line, but Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe snared it.

From his knees, Plouffe threw a one-hopper to first and Altuve was called out. Subsequent replays appeared to show credible evidence for both safe and out calls, as Altuve's foot was unclear in the frame when the ball reached Joe Mauer's glove.

After a two-minute, four-second delay, the ruling on the field stood. The call ended the inning and drew a chorus of boos from the fans at Minute Maid Park.

Porter is now 15-for-25 on replay challenges this season. Overall, the Astros have been involved in 65 reviews in the system's first season.
