Beltre out; Donaldson, Bautista in lineup

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, who strained his lower back during Texas' 5-3 win in Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Thursday, is not in the Rangers' starting lineup for today's Game 2. Hanser Alberto gets the start at third.

For Toronto, sluggers Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista, who had injury scares and also had to leave Game 1, are in the lineup, batting second and third, respectively.

Game 2 of the best-of-five series, which Texas leads 1-0, is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET at Rogers Centre in Toronto (MLB Network, Sportsnet).

Alberto batting ninth for Rangers
Alberto, who replaced Beltre in the third inning of Thursday's game, will bat ninth. Prince Fielder, who normally hits cleanup behind Beltre, moves up to third, with Mitch Moreland and Elvis Andrus behind him.

Beltre's back flared up on him while running out of the batter's box on a third-inning RBI single. He received an anti-inflammatory injection, which normally requires a day to be effective.

Donaldson awaits clearance but in lineup
Donaldson's status for Friday's game against the Rangers was initially unknown after he was kneed in the head by Texas second baseman Rougned Odor while attempting to break up a double play in the fourth inning on Thursday.

The All-Star third baseman still had to pass a series of tests Friday morning before he could be cleared to play, but he was listed in the lineup and manager John Gibbons expected him to play.

Bautista also was in the lineup and batting third after he left Thursday's game in the ninth inning because of cramps in his right hamstring. Chris Colabello got the start at first base over Justin Smoak and the Blue Jays decided to have Ryan Goins and Kevin Pillar swap spots in the lineup. Colabello is hitting sixth, Pillar eighth and Goins ninth.

"He's good to go; he's good to play the field," manager John Gibbons said of Bautista.
