Roenicke gets call at first overturned on challenge
WASHINGTON -- Brewers manager Ron Roenicke saw his "winning streak" extended to five when he won a replay challenge during Friday's second-half opener against the Nationals.
Jean Segura, playing his first game off the bereavement list, hit a soft bouncer to toward third base with one out in the seventh inning. Ryan Zimmerman made a barehanded pickup and slung a throw to first for the out, according to first-base umpire Vic Carapazza.
Roenicke challenged and the call was overturned, improving the Brewers' record in challenges to 10-5 this season, including five wins in a row.
Segura's stay on base was short. He was erased on a double play when Brewers pitcher Kyle Lohse popped a bunt to Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg.
