Call overturned as Ausmus wins challenge

Dozier out at second on stolen base attempt in third inning

MINNEAPOLIS -- Tigers manager Brad Ausmus successfully challenged a call in the third inning of Saturday's game against the Twins at Target Field.

With Detroit leading, 2-0, Twins second baseman Brian Dozier drew a two-out walk. With Joe Mauer at the plate, Dozier tried to steal second base, but the Tigers called a pitchout on the play. Dozier originally was ruled safe on catcher Bryan Holaday's throw, but after Ausmus requested a review, the umpires ruled that shortstop Andrew Romine tagged Dozier on the hip before the baserunner's hand reached the bag.

The time of Saturday's review was one minute, 28 seconds. Ausmus is 4-for-7 on challenges this season.
