Home run by Zunino confirmed by review

CLEVELAND -- The Mariners tallied another run and chased Tribe starter Trevor Bauer during Tuesday's 5-2 win thanks to a call that was confirmed by crew chief review.

With his team already holding a four-run advantage, Seattle catcher Mike Zunino blasted a first-pitch fastball from Bauer out toward the left-field wall with one out in the fifth inning. The ball appeared to skirt the top of the wall and then ricocheted up off the railing and into the outstretched hands of a fan.

After review, officials confirmed that Zunino's hit was a home run. The ruling left the Mariners with a 5-0 lead and gave Zunino his 16th home run of the season, which ties him with Kyle Seager for the team lead.

"I probably got it up 18 feet exactly. It bounced over," Zunino said. "I got just enough. I knew I had a little top spin on it, but it hung up just enough to sneak over. I'm not complaining."

Indians outfielder David Murphy had a hard-hit double confirmed by crew chief review in the seventh inning. The knock initially looked as if it could have been a home run after bouncing off the top of the outfield wall, but Murphy wound up having to settle for two bases.

"I did not [think it was a homer] when I was on second base and I saw the replay," Murphy said. "I think when I went in and I looked at the review a little more, I think it did [get out]. I feel like it hit right off the top of the yellow line, hit the cement or wood and kicked back on the field really hard.

"Whether it would have made a difference in the game, I don't know."
