Cain sets Royals' postseason steals mark
NEW YORK -- Lorenzo Cain stole his way into the Royals' record book in the first inning of Kansas City's 7-2 Game 5 championship-clinching victory on Sunday night.
After reaching on a two-out single off Mets starter Matt Harvey, Cain stole second for his fifth steal of this postseason. Cain broke a four-way tie with Alex Gordon (2014), Willie Wilson (1985) and Amos Otis (1978).
Cain led off the ninth with a walk and stole second again before scoring on Eric Hosmer's RBI double as the Royals rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force extra innings. Cain went 6-for-7 on steal attempts this postseason.
Cain capped his night with a three-run double in the five-run, 12th-inning rally that delivered Kansas City's first World Series championship since 1985.
