Marlins lose challenge on play at first

PHOENIX -- Marlins manager Mike Redmond lost a challenge in the bottom of the second inning against the D-backs at Chase Field on Tuesday.

D-backs catcher Tuffy Gosewisch led off the inning with a ground ball to third baseman Casey McGehee, whose throw caused first baseman Jeff Baker to come off the base.

First-base umpire John Tumpane ruled Gosewisch safe and McGehee was charged with an error. A short review ruled the play would stand.

The error didn't come back to haunt the Marlins, as pitcher Brand Hand escaped the inning without any damage despite allowing a single to shortstop Nick Ahmed.

Redmond is 13-for-17 in reviews this season.
