Pirates see baserunner erased following review

Molina's pickoff throw nabs Walker off third base during fifth inning

ST. LOUIS -- An out call on a pickoff play at third base in the fifth inning of Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals stood after the Pirates had challenged it.

Neal Walker was aboard with a one-out triple when right-hander Carlos Martinez delivered a pitch to Russell Martin.

St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina fired the ball to third baseman Matt Carpenter, who slapped the tag on the diving Walker to get the out call from third-base umpire Alan Porter.

After a brief review, the call stood.
