Bucs win two challenges in game vs. Dodgers

Club gets safe call at first base in first inning, out call at second in seventh overturned

PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates won a pair of challenges in Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, one overturning a safe call of Justin Turner in the first inning, the other reversing Russell Martin being called out in the seventh.

Turner hit a chopper to Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez, who threw it on a hop to first baseman Ike Davis. First-base umpire Laz Diaz originally ruled Davis' foot was pulled off the bag, but the call was changed after replay review and Turner was the second out of the inning.

In the seventh, Martin was initially ruled out at second on a force play, but replay showed he slid in before Turner got the ball to second baseman Dee Gordon. Josh Harrison was out at first on Gordon's relay throw.
