Rangers claim Wilkins off waivers from Mariners
SEATTLE -- First baseman Andy Wilkins, designated for assignment last week by the Mariners, was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on Monday.
The 27-year-old has now been waived and claimed by three teams in the past several months. The Orioles claimed him off waivers from the Dodgers in September, with Seattle then claiming him on Dec. 2 after he'd been designated for assignment by Baltimore.
The Mariners designated him for assignment last Wednesday to make room on their 40-man roster for first baseman Adam Lind, who was acquired in a trade with the Brewers.
Wilkins played 17 games for the White Sox in 2014, batting .140 in 43 at-bats. He hit .251 with 18 home runs and 79 RBIs in 126 games in Triple-A last year in the Dodgers' and Blue Jays' organizations.
