Replay confirms that Puig is out at home plate

Crew chief calls for review of Rule 7.13 on play during ninth inning

ATLANTA -- Crew chief Gary Cederstrom called for a review of Rule 7.13 regarding a play at the plate during which Evan Gattis tagged out Yasiel Puig on an Adrian Gonzalez double in the top of the ninth of the Dodgers' 6-4 win against the Braves on Thursday afternoon at Turner Field.

After review, it was determined that Gattis provided an adequate lane for Puig, confirming the out call on the field.

Dee Gordon scored on the extra-base hit with ease, but Andrelton Simmons' throw beat Puig to the plate by several steps. Gattis caught the ball and reached his arm into the basepath to apply the tag to Puig's leg.

Gattis made the play while keeping his body out in front of home plate, prompting home-plate umpire Lance Barksdale to rule Puig out. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly exited the dugout to ask about the play, leading Cederstrom to initiate a crew chief review of the out.
