Umpire Davis works 4,000th career game

Gerry Davis hit yet another career milestone, when he umpired his 4,000th career game Wednesday night in Anaheim.

Davis, 60, was the first-base umpire for the Angels-A's game, becoming the 21st to achieve the feat. He is one of just three active umps to hit the mark, joining Tim McClelland and Joe West.

This marks Davis' 32nd season as a big league ump, during which he has manned a record 115 postseason games.

Last season, Davis was the crew chief at both the All-Star Game and the World Series.
