White Sox lose challenge of safe call at first base
Ruling stands, but Indians unable to cash in scoring opportunity
CLEVELAND -- The White Sox challenged a fifth-inning call on Saturday night at Progressive Field, but the original call stood.
With Michael Bourn on second and one out, Jose Ramirez hit a slow roller that Gillaspie fielded on the run and made a strong throw to first baseman Andy Wilkins. White Sox manager Robin Ventura challenged the safe call, but the video review went against the White Sox. The Indians loaded the bases with one out but could not score, as Jose Quintana retired Carlos Santana and Yan Gomes to keep the game tied at 1.
