Phillies outfielder will undergo right latissimus dorsi repair surgery next Wednesday, which will be performed by Dr. Anthony Romeo. Recovery is projected to take six to eight months for a full return to play, and he is expected to be ready for the start of the 2027 season.

García exited the Phillies-Blue Jays game on June 10 in the seventh inning after a throw to home plate.

The 33-year-old hit just .195 with seven home runs and a .599 OPS, though three of those homers had come in the week prior to his injury. Despite his offensive struggles, García had continued to play solid defense in right field while showcasing his elite arm strength.

Signed to a one-year, $10 million deal this offseason, García had gotten off to a difficult start offensively.
