Pirates claim pitcher Josh Lindblom off waivers from Oakland

The Pittsburgh Pirates today claimed right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom off waivers from Oakland. The announcement was made by Pirates Executive Vice President, General Manager Neal Huntington.

Lindblom went 4-3 with a 5.79 ERA (84.0ip/54er) in 17 appearances (16 starts) this past season with Triple-A Sacramento. He also made one start for the A's on April 2 vs. Cleveland and had a no-decision (4.2ip/2r).

The 27-year-old Lindblom was originally selected by the Dodgers in the second round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He made his big league debut with Los Angeles (NL) in 2011, where he posted a 1-0 record and 2.73 ERA (29.2ip/9er) in 27 relief appearances.

Since making his Major League debut, Lindblom has posted a career record of 5-8 with one save and a 3.82 ERA (136.2ip/58er) in 110 appearances (six starts) with Los Angeles (2011-12), Philadelphia (2012), Texas (2013) and Oakland (2014).

In addition, Pittsburgh has also outrighted right-handed pitcher Angel Sanchez to Triple-A Indianapolis. The Pirates now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
