Rays righty Drew Rasmussen will not make his scheduled start on Tuesday night, but it's for the best of reasons: His wife, Stevie, is giving birth to their second child.
The good-news scratch was announced a few hours before the team's 6:40 p.m. ET game against the Cubs at Tropicana Field. Righty Mason Englert will open in Rasmussen's place as the Rays look to secure a series win against Chicago.
Rasmussen has already displayed good Dad Strength this season, posting a 1.80 ERA in two starts, racking up 10 strikeouts in 10 innings. Now, he'll get a little extra rest (in theory only, as all parents of newborns can attest) before making his next start with fresh and joyous new-dad energy.
