“I noticed that the pitcher [Josh Taylor] wasn't really watching for me or covering for me, and I saw the third baseman was pretty far away in respect to where I was at,” Arozarena said after the Rays took Game 1 of the ALDS against the Red Sox, 5-0, on Thursday night. “I was looking over to [Rays third-base coach Rodney] Linares, telling him, 'Hey, I'm going to go, I'm going to go' … that's when I decided to take off.”

Watch from angles such as down the third-base line or behind the plate as the electrifying rookie sizes up his opportunity, considers his chances and breaks for home to give the Rays a five-run lead. Or use the “Player Lock” function to take a bird’s-eye view and hone in on Arozarena as he makes his mad dash down the line and slides into home plate.

“The steal of home, that was one of the cooler things I've seen on a baseball field,” Rays manager and eight-year veteran Kevin Cash said after the game.

By accomplishing his incredible feat, Arozarena became the first player in MLB postseason history to hit a home run and steal home in the same game. He has become a postseason legend, while also being in consideration for the 2021 AL Rookie of the Year Award, as his 11 playoff home runs would already make him the all-time leader for 21 franchises other than the Rays.
