Moreno lands on IL with strained left oblique

April 14th, 2026

The Diamondbacks placed catcher on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday, with a strained left oblique. An MRI exam taken Saturday had shown a "muscular issue" in Moreno's lower back, according to manager Torey Lovullo, but an oblique strain was his official diagnosis, per the club.

Moreno exited Friday night’s 5-4 victory over the Phillies after the top of the third inning with left lower back tightness and was sent for an MRI on Saturday morning.

Moreno said he felt the discomfort after he threw out Justin Crawford attempting to steal second base to end the second inning Friday night.

"I was really sad," Moreno said of his reaction when he got the MRI results. "I don't want to go to the IL, but [they] think I can come back quick if I go on now."
