Rockies recall RHP Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Rob Scahill Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room on the active roster for Scahill, the Rockies have optioned outfielder Charlie Blackmon to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Scahill (#62) will be available for tonight's Rockies vs. Astros game at Coors Field (6:40 p.m. MDT).
Scahill, 26, is joining the Rockies active roster for the third time this season. In his time with Colorado, Scahill has made two scoreless appearances (5.1 ip, 2 h, 2 so). Scahill began the season with Triple-A Colorado Springs and has made 14 relief appearances going 3-0 with a 4.60 ERA (31.1 ip, 16 er) and one save. The Illinois native pitched in six games with Colorado last season with a 1.04 ERA (8.2 ip, 1 er), did not receive a decision but finished three games. Scahill was an eighth round selection of the Rockies in the 2009 June Draft out of Bradley University.
Blackmon, 26, was originally recalled on May 12th when Michael Cuddyer was placed on the 15-day DL. In 12 games with the Rockies, Blackmon hit .240 (6-for-25) with 1 home run, 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. This marks the third-straight season that Blackmon has spent time on the Rockies active roster. He has batted .267 (63-for-236) with 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 19 RBI and 28 runs in 81 career Major League games. The outfielder began the season at Triple-A and will return to a batting line of .336 (37-for-110) average, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 21 RBI and 35 runs in 31 games.
The Rockies currently have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
