Diamond of Dreams is the signature fundraising event for Royals Charities, taking place at Kauffman Stadium on Monday, June 29, 2020. This on-field gala celebrates the beauty of baseball and its soul for giving back. Guests will experience unique food and beverages, an exclusive silent auction, an intimate concert in the outfield, and a fireworks spectacular to cap off the evening. Current Royals players, broadcasters, and alumni mingle with guests during this evening dedicated to supporting military families. Proceeds will help bring a Fisher House to Kansas City, which is a "home away from home" for families of patients receiving care at the Kansas City VA, Medical Center. Since 2017, Royals pitcher Ian Kennedy and his family invites groups to a fully-catered dugout suite every Saturday during the season. Kennedy was named the national winner of the 2019 Bob Feller Act of Valor Award, an MLB award that honors players who offer exceptional support to active duty military members and veterans.
Royals Charities has provided grants to several military-related organizations, including Heartland Honor Flight, Honor and Remember of Kansas, Kansas City Fisher House, Kansas City VA Medical Center, USO Fort Riley, USO Missouri, Veterans Community Project, and Whiteman Air Force Base.
Each year the Royals host Armed Forces Day to honor our military service members and their families. In 2018, the Royals and FOX Sports Kansas City brought the “This One’s for You” program to Kansas City and visited members of the military from Fort Riley who were stationed in the Middle East. In 2019, 45 wives of enlisted service members currently stationed at Fort Riley rode to Kansas City in the FOX Sports Fan Express to enjoy the Girls Night Out game at Kauffman Stadium.
