Royals acquire Brian Goodwin from Washington for Jacob Condra-Bogan

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 22, 2018) - The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have acquired outfielder Brian Goodwin from the Washington Nationals in exchange for minor league pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan. Goodwin will be added to the Major League roster when he reports to the club.

The 27-year-old outfielder is in his third Major League season and has hit .200 (13-for-65) with a double, three homers, 12 RBI and three steals in 48 games for the Nationals this season. A left-handed hitter, Goodwin clubbed his first career grand slam in Washington's 13-7 win over Cincinnati on March 31. He played in a career-high 74 games last season, hitting .251/.313/.498 (63-for-251) with 21 doubles, a triple, 13 homers and 41 runs scored.

Goodwin has slugged .464 in his career as 44 of his 88 hits have gone for extra-bases. He's played all three outfielder positions as a Major Leaguer, including 35 starts in center field, 28 in left and 11 in right. He was a first-round selection (34th overall) by Washington in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.

Condra-Bogan, 23, was recently promoted to Wilmington (A), after going 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA in 16 appearances at Lexington (A).
