TORONTO -- Royals closer Wade Davis was placed on the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday night's 8-3 loss to the Blue Jays because of a forearm strain. But Davis said after the game that his level of concern was minimal.
"I think it's going to be fine," Davis said. "It's just a muscle that tightened up and didn't go away after a couple of days. But with some time off, I think it'll be fine."
The Royals selected the contract of right-hander Brooks Pounders from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, and designated for assignment left-hander Tylor Olson to make room on the 40-man roster.
Pounders made his Major League debut Tuesday night, logging two innings and giving up one run and one walk with three strikeouts.

Davis was selected by the players to the All-Star Game presented by MasterCard. But he will not attend.
"I'll stay back in Kansas City with the trainers and throw some bullpens," Davis said. "The main thing is to get ready for the second half."
Davis said he wasn't concerned that the forearm strain could lead to more serious issues near the elbow.
"Oh, no," Davis said. "It's not near there. It's just a muscle that hasn't quite freed up yet."
Royals manager Ned Yost also seemed to indicate it wasn't a long-term issue for Davis.
"It's just good to get ahead of it right now when we have time," Yost said.

With a 1.01 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP and an 11.5 K/9 rate since the outset of 2014, Davis -- even if out for a brief time -- will be missed by fantasy owners. Although Davis' ninth-inning fill-in is not yet known, Kansas City has two relievers -- Kelvin Herrera (1.40 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 rate in 2016) and Joakim Soria (career 203 saves, 2.62 ERA) -- with the skills to get the job done. While fantasy owners would be wise to add both men right away, the guess here is that Herrera gets the first save chance and emerges as a top-tier stopper until Davis returns.
