Pitt righty Mildren goes to Twins in Round 12
In the 12th round, No. 350 overall, Minnesota selected right-hander Ethan Mildren.
The junior out of Pittsburgh is the first Panther drafted by the Twins. In 2013 he pitched 114 2/3 innings for a 2.35 ERA. With a 10-3 record, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound righty went seven-plus innings in 13 of his 15 starts and struck out 76.
"He won't light up the gun -- he's 90-91 [mph] -- but he throws straight and we think he's a starter," scouting director Deron Johnson said.
He also earned first-team All Big East honors in 2013.
