Twins to host first season opener at Target in '13
Minnesota will also see Atlanta, Washington in new-look Interleague Play
The tentative schedule has Minnesota beginning play at home against Detroit on Monday, April 1, after starting each of the previous three seasons on the road. The teams will take Tuesday off before returning to play two more games on April 3-4.
The Twins will then head east for three games with Baltimore before playing three more in Kansas City. They return home to open up play against the National League in the first year utilizing a changed Interleague format with three games against the Mets before three against the Angels.
Miami comes to Minnesota on April 22 for two Interleague games at Target Field. Interleague Play will also feature the Twins against Atlanta, Milwaukee, Washington and Philadelphia. The Astros will move to the American League in 2013 -- giving both leagues 15 teams.
Minnesota will travel to Atlanta for a three-game series from May 20-22 before renewing its border-state rivalry at Milwaukee for two games on May 27-28. The Brewers will then come to Target Field for two more games on May 29-30.
The Twins travel to Washington for three games on June 7-9 before returning home for three games with the Phillies on June 11-13. Minnesota will play two games at Miami, June 25-26, before taking a brief reprieve from Interleague action.
The Twins close out the season's first half with a 10-day, 10-game road trip, making stops in Toronto, Tampa Bay and New York to face the Yankees before the All-Star break. Minnesota opens the second half with three home games against Cleveland before heading West for seven games with the Angels and Mariners.
The Twins will close their season with seven games at Target Field -- three against Detroit on Sept. 23-25, then four against Cleveland Sept. 26-29. In all, 10 of Minnesota's final 14 games will be played against American League Central foes.
