The Chicago White Sox have claimed left-handed pitcher Ian Clarkin off waivers from the Chicago Cubs.
Clarkin, 23, was claimed by the Cubs off waivers from the White Sox on November 20. He combined to go 4-5 with a 4.76 ERA (45 ER/85.0 IP) over 25 games (12 starts) with Class A Winston-Salem and Class AA Birmingham in 2018.
Clarkin was acquired by the Sox from the Yankees on July 18, 2017 with right-hander Tyler Clippard and outfielders Blake Rutherford and Tito Polo in exchange for third baseman Todd Frazier and right-handers Tommy Kahnle and David Robertson.
He originally was selected by the Yankees in the first round (33rd overall) of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.
