Eloy Jiménez named American League Rookie of the Month

CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez has been named American League Rookie of the Month for September. 

Jiménez, 22, batted .340/.383/.710 (34-100) with eight doubles, nine home runs, 25 RBI and 19 runs scored over 24 games in September to garner his first career monthly honor.

He tied for the AL lead during the month in RBI and ranked among the leaders in doubles (T4th), homers (T4th), slugging percentage (5th), OPS (7th, 1.093), runs scored (T7th) and average (10th).

Jiménez batted .267 (125-468) with 18 doubles, 31 home runs, 79 RBI, 69 runs scored and a .513 slugging percentage over 122 games this season. He led AL rookies in homers, RBI, slugging percentage and OPS (.828). His 31 homers are the third-highest total in White Sox history by a rookie, trailing only teammate José Abreu (36 in 2014) and Ron Kittle (1983).
