A's Reinstate Reddick from the DL; Place Blanks on the 15-day DL

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's reinstated outfielder Josh Reddick from the disabled list and placed first baseman Kyle Blanks on the 15-day DL retroactive to June 23 with a strained left calf, the club announced today.

Reddick was placed on the 15-day disabled list June 3 retroactive to June 1 with a hyperextended right knee. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento last Wednesday and went 7 for 16 (.438) with three doubles in four games, including a four-hit game Saturday at New Orleans. Reddick was batting .214 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 50 games at the time of his injury.

Blanks was batting .378 with a .500 on-base percentage over his last 18 games and is hitting .333 with two home runs, seven RBI and a .446 on-base percentage in 21 games overall with the A's. He began the season at Triple-A El Paso in the San Diego farm system and went 2 for 10 (.200) in five games with the Padres before he was traded to the A's May 15 for minor leaguers Jake Goebbert and Ronald Herrera. Blanks is eligible to be reinstated July 8.
