MILWAUKEE – Minor League pitcher , Milwaukee’s No. 26 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was involved in a serious car accident near his New Jersey home on Friday and remained hospitalized as of Monday afternoon, according to Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold.

“He’s progressing positively,” Arnold said. “The reports we’ve gotten are good.”

Arnold declined to comment further on Cairone’s condition or the circumstances of the crash, which the club announced late Saturday in a statement that read, “Frank is currently being cared for at a hospital in New Jersey with the support of his family. The Brewers’ thoughts and prayers are with Frank and his family during his difficult time.”

The Brewers said they would provide updates about Cairone’s condition as they become available. Regional scouting coordinator Steve Ditrolio, who signed Cairone and has known him for years, was on site with the family to provide whatever support the club can supply, Arnold said.

Cairone, a left-hander who turned 18 in September, was drafted out of Delsea Regional High School in Franklinville, N.J., at No. 68 overall in the 2025 Draft, a compensatory selection for unsigned 2024 Draft pick Chris Levonas. Cairone spent the late summer and fall at the team’s complex in Arizona in anticipation of making his professional debut in 2026.
