Teheran, 32, is 78-77 with a 3.80 ERA in 240 career games (236 starts) over 11 seasons with Atlanta (2011-19), Los Angeles-AL (2020) and Detroit (2021). The two-time All-Star (2014 and 2016) last pitched in a Major League game in a start with the Tigers on April 3, 2021 vs. Cleveland. It was his only outing that season.

After pitching in the independent Atlantic League (Staten Island) and Mexican League (Tijuana and Monterrey) last season, Teheran signed with San Diego in December as a non-roster invitee. He went 4-2 with a 5.63 ERA in 8 starts at Triple-A El Paso this season before opting out of his contract on May 22.
