Jimenez stays hot for Emeralds with first multi-homer game

Cubs No. 13 prospect notches a hit in his sixth straight game for Class A Short Season Eugene

Cubs No. 13 prospect Eloy Jimenez refuses to cool down for Class A Short Season Eugene.

The 18-year-old left fielder went 2-for-4 with two homers (his first career multi-HR game) and three RBIs during Game 1 of a doubleheader against Spokane. The Emeralds prevailed, 5-1, and Jimenez has now collected at least one RBI in seven of his past eight games.

He currently possesses a six-game hitting streak, and is hitting .285 with six homers and 27 RBIs in 44 games since joining Eugene in mid-June. Signed out of the Dominican Republic in August 2013, Jimenez struggled through last season with a .227/.268/.367 line in the Arizona League.

Tuesday marked his fourth multi-hit game in six tries and he has eight RBIs over his past five contests.
